Dr. Rakesh B. Saraiya, MD, FACC

Dr. Rakesh Saraiya serves as the Medical Director of the Selma Heart Center, where he provides comprehensive, patient-centered care across the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease. With more than two decades of experience in cardiology, he specializes in the evaluation and management of conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, and vascular disorders. He also has extensive expertise in preventive cardiology, hypertension and cholesterol management, and noninvasive vascular diagnostics.
Dr. Saraiya earned his medical degree through the Honors Accelerated BA-MD program at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He completed his internship, residency, and chief residency at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, followed by fellowships in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at the same institution. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, with additional prior certifications in Internal Medicine and Interventional Cardiology.
Inspired by the profound and immediate impact cardiology can have on patients’ lives, Dr. Saraiya is passionate about improving both longevity and quality of life. He is committed to building long-term relationships with his patients while also providing expert care during critical moments in their health journey.
His approach to care is rooted in trust, active listening, and thoughtful collaboration. Dr. Saraiya takes the time to understand each patient’s goals and concerns, developing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that are both medically sound and practical for everyday life. He believes that the best outcomes come from strong partnerships with patients and their families, supported by clear communication and continuity of care.
